Healthy and delicious protein smoothie made to taste just like your favorite Almond Joy candy bar!
Growing up I used to love Almond Joy candy bars. There was just something about that coconut covered in chocolate with a few almonds that made them so delicious to me.
It's been quite some years since I've eaten a candy bar, and lately with trying to eat a more healthy diet they just don't fit into my lifestyle anymore – but this delicious smoothie definitely does!
Even though I have been eating better and “healthier” (if you will) there still comes the temptations and cravings for things that are sweet and covered in chocolate. Fortunately, my chocolate is still of the healthy variety and made even better with the help of some California Almonds and a little flaked coconut.
I could seriously eat almonds by the pound and you can usually find a bag full of them nearby or at least in my pantry. Apples smeared with almond butter is also one of my go-to snacks. Eating healthy and more plant-based doesn't have to be boring or hard work as long as you keep some easy go-to snacks in your fridge and pantry like: almonds, almond butter, olive oil instead of regular, canned veggies, uncooked old-fashioned oats, and whole grains like quinoa, brown rice, and whole wheat pasta.
Just making simple switches to your everyday will get you eating better in no-time…
And since California Almonds are a plant-based protein and sustainably grown, they are the perfect addition to this smoothie while also adding an extra 6 grams of protein per 1 ounce serving.
So whip up some of this chocolaty deliciousness next time you're in the mood for something sweet but not wanting to ruin your healthy eating habits!
