Pumpkin Apple Shandy

Yay guys! I'm back with another delicious cocktail recipe for you today! Once again, I'm scheduling this post a little early but hopefully as this post is coming to you I am being discharged from the hospital (or already have been) and on my way home to enjoy one of these as my first “Yay I can drink again” celebratory cocktails.

I know it's wishful thinking that after having a c-section that I'll be discharged from the hospital in 2 days but it happened last time so I'm hopeful that it will this time too. Perks of being a doctor's wife? I dunno… but hospitals are just no fun and I would rather be at home with the new baby and the rest of my family recovering than stuck in a hospital.

You seriously get zero sleep in the hospital because there are nurses coming in all the time to give you medication or check things or there are beeping monitors or whatever else you can hear that is going on outside of your door. Wow, it's exhausting just thinking about it. haha.

Anyway, I do fully intend to make this cocktail my first one back because, as I have mentioned before, I have some delicious pumpkin beer waiting for me in the fridge. I've also got some bourbon in the liquor cabinet and a gallon of apple cider – so yeah, this will happen.

Pumpkin Apple Shandy

It's the perfect fall shandy because it combines the best flavors of fall – apple and pumpkin – into one drink: the pumpkin apple shandy. The drink itself is not all that strong because you are really only having 1/2 of a full beer. However, adding the bourbon gives it a nice little kick and takes it up just a notch.

But of course, the bourbon, while highly recommended, is purely optional. You can just go ahead and try the shandy with just the pumpkin beer and apple cider and see how you like it. If you want a little kick go ahead and add the bourbon. The hubby, who is not a pumpkin beer fan, thoroughly enjoyed this drink and actually wanted me to add more bourbon to his. So that's also an option too. haha.

Personally, I'll be adding the bourbon. ?
