Happy Halloween everyone! I hope your Halloween holidays is going well so far!

Mine has been quite uneventful while gearing up for the festivities and little ones in the neighborhood to start trick-or-treating.

I have to say that I was a big fan of Halloween when I was a kid, but for some reason over the years it’s kind of lost it’s sparkle for me. Now that I have my own kids, it’s fun to get them dressed up and take them trick-or-treating.

I think where the sparkle has gone is in the passing out candy part. I’m not gunna lie… it’s kind of annoying.

Doorbell rings, hand out candy, shut door. 2 seconds later… doorbell rings, hand out candy, shut door. Repeat.

It’s not my favorite and the past couple years I’ve been the one handing out candy at home while the hubby takes the kids out. Which is what will happen this year since I’m literally 38 weeks pregnant and just the thought of walking the entire neighborhood is making me feel exhausted.

haha.

Luckily, in this little town we live in, we have set trick-or-treating hours. <– best thing ever! Kids and parents are only allowed to trick-or-treat during a designated time and it’s usually somewhere between 6-8pm.

Yep… 2 hour span to get as much chocolate and candy as your little heart desires. Which is perfect and makes passing out candy a little more bearable.

When I was a kid living in Florida, there weren’t set times and I remember being out for a few hours then coming home and even after I came home there were still people out until almost midnight ringing on doorbells trick-or-treating.

Seriously, that’s late people.

Anyway, I’ve also been trying to do my best to stay out of the candy bowl…

It’s been working out well so far since I decided to whip up this pumpkin spice latte protein shake instead.

I got the idea from my regular pumpkin spice protein shake that I had posted a couple years back, but this time decided to make a latte style with some added espresso powder.

There is definitely nothing wrong with adding a little espresso powder (or coffee) to your smoothie or shake.

It is delicious and has been helping me keep the sweet tooth at bay while seeing the giant bowl of candy that is sitting patiently at the front door.
