I absolutely love watermelon and could seriously eat it every day if you let me.
I honestly think that our family has gone through about 10-12 watermelons this summer alone and I really have no intentions of slowing down.
Though now that it is almost blueberry season here in the mitten state so maybe I’ll switch my watermelon fixation for blueberries.
Maybe…
With the abundance of watermelons at our house, I decided to try my hand at a couple of watermelon drinks.
I made the watermelon lemonade a couple weeks back and this time I decided to make some watermelon sangria.
Because, why not?
I’ve made a few sangria recipes this summer and now that fall is just around the corner, I cannot wait to try my hand at making red sangria instead of white.
Summer is for light and fruity drinks, like this one, but fall is for more savory and dry drinks.
So… until fall is officially here I’ll keep making my light a fruity drinks and lemonade and sangria.
Watermelon Sangria
Ingredients
- 6 cups watermelon cubed
- 2 (750ml) bottles white wine
- 2 cups watermelon vodka
- 3 cups lemon-lime soda
- 1/4 cup stevia or sweetener of choice
Instructions
- Add cubed watermelon to blender and blend on high until well pureed. Pour through a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth into a gallon jug.
- Gather up sides of cheesecloth and squeeze to force out as much watermelon juice as possible. Discard pulp.
- Add white wine, vodka, and soda and stir to combine. Taste for sweetness and adjust accordingly.
- Refrigerate for 2-6 hours to let the flavors combine. Serve over ice with a sprig of mint and extra cubed watermelon (if desired).
