White Cheddar Beer Bread

Baking and cooking with beer has always been something that I enjoy. In the past year and few months in particular, I have really been enjoying discovering new ways to cook and bake with beer.

Since I can’t currently drink beer, I figured the next best thing was to try and cook and bake with it, right? I mean… totally logical.

So I’ve been making all the beer things and have a bunch more that I am currently working on in the kitchen. And since I’m such a sucker for carbs and bread, I found it only fitting to share another beer bread recipe with you.

I know, I know… carbs bad. But I can’t help myself, I just love them so. Especially when I’m pregnant. All I want is all the carbs! Plus, for some reason all that has been helping with the morning sickness and keeping the nausea at bay is carbs or bread of some sort.

Morning sickness is no joke and for the past two kids, I have been sick for what felt like all day. Not just in the morning. Which is weird for me because with my first baby I didn’t have any morning sickness at all. But then it proves what they say when all pregnancies are incredibly different and you can have all the symptoms with one and none with another.

But I digress…

This is a “quick bread” recipe. Meaning that it doesn’t require yeast, proofing, or needing to allow a dough to rise. Cuz we all know that this momma doesn’t currently have time to wait for bread to rise. Just mix up all the ingredients and pop it in the oven and you’re good to go.

This bread is great as a little appetizer for when friends come over. You can spread it with just about anything you like… jam, butter, or drizzle it with some honey, or just eat it plain. Either way you can’t go wrong!

Quick bread made without yeast and your favorite beer for a soft and dense bread that makes a perfect snack.

Prep: 10 minutes
Cook: 55 minutes
Total: 1 hour 5 minutes
Yield: 1 loaf


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6 oz white cheddar cheese shredded
  • 12 oz light beer
  • 6 Tbsp unsalted butter melted


  1. Preheat oven to 375° F and spray a loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together both flours, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese. Add beer and stir until incorporated; batter will be thick.
  3. Pour batter into prepared pan then pour melted butter over top.
  4. Bake at 375° F for 50-55 minutes or until tester inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool for about 30 minutes before serving.
