We’ve been living in our home now for over a year. When we moved here, we thought we had a lot of stuff, but apparently it wasn’t enough to fill this house. Normally, this isn’t a big deal because I like open spaces and not too much furniture or nick-nacks. But.. we do have children so things tend to get messy and everywhere anyway.

Anyway, to the point of this post… We have this great front entrance to the house and had literally nothing to put there.

Front Entry Before

This is an antique nightstand that I’ve had since I was a kid. It was passed down to me through I don’t know how many generations but when I grew up and got big girl furniture, I didn’t have anywhere to put it but I don’t have the heart to get rid of it…. so here it ended up. Along with various other places in the previous homes that we’ve lived in.

It was just put there for lack of a better place.

Kinda lame, right? It’s just boring and unappealing. There’s nothing that says, “welcome to our home!” when you walk in the door.

Well, recently, I inherited a new sideboard table from my grandfather and I was ecstatic to find that it fit perfectly in the space!

Front Entry After

After we got the table home and set-up we went shopping to find some stuff to help make it look nicer. We found most of this stuff at Kirkland’s and IKEA and a couple jugs that we had somewhere in the house. The table is gorgeous and fits in perfectly with the rest of our furniture. But to be honest, the “stuff” around it I’m not too happy with anymore. When we bought it, I was and I thought it looked nice, but not anymore. Really, though, is I just don’t like the red.. and the jugs underneath.

For now, I’ll live with it and see if it grows on me, if not then that just means I’ll have to make another trip to Kirkland’s or IKEA. Because I really need another excuse to go shopping, haha (insert sarcastic voice here).

I do love that the space is more inviting and warm and isn’t just bland and bare anymore, it has a little personality… even if I don’t know what that personality is.
