It’s been quite some time since I’ve done some crafts, maybe a few years, but last weekend I had the itch to make something cute and pretty for fall. My girlfriend had inspired me by showing a picture of a wreath that she made not too long ago and I instantly wanted to drive to the craft store.

Instead of doing that, we waited until she had a day off of work and then I toted all the kiddos and we headed to Michael’s to see what they had. I didn’t exactly know what I wanted to make so I just left it up to the crafting gods to inspire me with what was on the shelves.

Whelp… $70 later and a trunk full of craft supplies, this is what I came up with.

Glitter Pumpkins

After I decided to make cute pumpkins, of course I had to drive to the pumpkin patch and pick up a bunch and it just so happened that there is a cute little one right down the street from my house.

Score for living in Michigan where farms are everywhere.

Once all the ingredients were assembled, we poured a glass of wine and got to work.

I tried to get Alyssa to work on some pumpkins with me but she didn’t want to, so I gave her her own so she could do with them what she pleased but I wanted to make mine sparkle and glitter!

I didn’t exactly know what I wanted to do, still, but it was fun seeing all of it come together once the creative juices started flowing.

Or maybe that was the wine?

Either way, the pumpkins turned out perfect. I even decided to decorate a couple of the fake pumpkins so that next year I would have some already to go.

You’ve gotta have backup for when you’re ready to decorate but haven’t had time to do anything crafty or special.

Plus, I actually didn’t own any fall-ish decorations before heading to Michael’s this year. Seriously!

Bling Pumpkins

I call this a success! Especially since I managed to keep all the glitter contained and it didn’t go all over the house. That’s a HUGE win in my book! Until next time…

What kind of pumpkins are you making this year?
