On Wednesday’s we drink pink! Haha!
But seriously this strawberry rum smash is everything and so gorgeous.
I’ve been on a little bit of a rum thing lately and I’m not mad about it. I’ve also realized over these past few months that I really love all kinds of liquors and just needed to start branching out more and expanding my flavor palette.
Strawberries are at an all-time high in the grocery stores right now and I have at least two cartons in my fridge at all times. My kids eat strawberries like they are going out of style and I’m ok with that.
Strawberries and watermelon are two of their favorites. Watermelon gets all over the house though so they have to go outside.
Anyway, with some of the strawberries that my kids let me have – haha – I decided to make this beautiful strawberry rum smash. A delicious combination of rum, orange liqueur, and fresh muddled strawberries.
Start by adding the strawberries and rum to the bottom of a cocktail shaker and muddling with the end of a wooden spoon or a drink muddler. Make sure the strawberries are fully mashed.
Add the rest of the ingredients to the shaker and filling 1/2 way with ice. Cover and shake for 30 seconds to fully incorporate the drink.
Double strain into a rocks glass or stemless wine with a large ice cube. Garnish with a fresh, sliced strawberry or lime wedge, if desired and serve.
Cheers, friends! This might just be my new favorite drink.
