A couple years have passed since I wrote a post about my favorite makeup products and a lot has changed since then. I have “grown up”, if you will, when it comes to my makeup and skincare routine.
As much as I hate to admit it, I’m getting older now, and I am trying my best to keep these wrinkles at bay and cover these bags under my eyes when going out.
I used the products in my previous post for a long time until I realized that some of the products were setting into fine lines and in undesirable areas and just not looking as fresh as I would like after being on for a few hours.
Plus, I’m also a product junkie and love trying new things every once in a while. Then if I find something I love I’ll stick with for a few empties.
I’ve also refined my requirements in makeup and skincare over the past few years. Figuring out what ingredients work well for me and which ones cause breakouts or which ones make my skin look great or which ones cake has been a gamechanger.
Let get to my current list of makeup favorites: What’s in my Makeup Bag 2020! Hopefully these ones will last a while and I won’t need to write a new one of these posts for a few more years.
First Light Priming Filter
I bought this even before my last primer was empty. I was just tired of the texture of that one and wanted something different. I grabbed this when Ulta was having one of their 21 Days of Beauty sales for 50% off. I love the texture and feel of it and it helps my makeup go on smoothly. It also has a semi-matte but slightly dewy finish and helps my makeup look beautifully natural. Definitely going to stick with this one for a while.
BEAKEY 5 Pcs Makeup Sponge Set
I used to use a beauty blender and they just got too expensive for me. While I do clean my sponges regularly, I also like to exchange them for new ones regularly. Luckily I found these exact same style sponge on Amazon and for a fraction of the price. You get a pack of 6 for about $10 bucks and they work just as well, if not better than the original.
Sheer Glow Foundation
I absolutely loved the itCosmetics BB cream but the color was always just a little off and it was just starting to get a little cakey looking by the end of the day. I switched to this NARS and I absolutely love it. It has a lighter feel and lighter-to medium coverage that I love. It’s buildable so I can put on more if I want, but I usually just do a small amount to even out my skin tone and it works well for me. Plus, it still looks fresh at the end of a long day.
Radiant Creamy Concealer
I picked up this concealer because my sister told me about it. She uses it and I absolutely love how it blends, wears, and feels on my skin. It’s nice and creamy and doesn’t settle into the lines under my eyes and doesn’t wear off throughout the day. Definitely keeping this probably forever.
Mini Makeup Sponges
I bought the liquid contour below and wanted a smaller, mini sponge to blend it with. I found these on Amazon and they work perfectly. They are so cute and blend my concealer and contour perfectly. I have been trying to switch to more liquids with my makeup and these are the perfect sponges to blend with.
Hollywood Contour Wand
My skin has gotten drier over the years and powders just don’t so as well for me anymore. I’m trying to switch most of my products over and this was the first test. I absolutely love this contour… it blends so smoothly and give the prefect amount of color where you need it. Favorite for sure.
Cali Contour Face Palette
I bought this on a 50% off sale from Ulta. It’s not my favorite but it does what I want it too. I love that there is just about everything you need for highlight, blush, and contour but the powder isn’t playing nice with my skin anymore. I’m going to finish this then find a liquid blush and highlight instead like I did with the contour.
Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder
I absolutely love this finisher. It’s feels weird when you first put it on because it’s a HydraPowder and feels wet, but it dries beautifully and sets my makeup perfectly. I switch between this and the bareMinerals finishing veil.
Mineral Veil Finishing Powder
Another find on an Ulta 50% off sale. I went a little crazy the last time they had a sale and bought a bunch of new things. I really like this mineral powder and will continue to use it on and off with the BECCA.
Gimme Brow+ Tinted Volumizing Eyebrow Gel
I used to use a pencil to fill but this works so much better and it’s faster. It doesn’t last as long as the pencil but small price to pay for quicker and better results.
24-HR Brow Setter Clear Eyebrow Gel
I’ve got some crazy eyebrows and needed a gel to keep them from getting wild during the day. This works well and I like the applicator that it comes with. I’m sure I could use a regular gel for less money but this works and I’ve already gone through a few bottles.
Pro Longwear Paint Pot Eyeshadow
I use this as more of an eyelid primer before I put on my shadow. I’ve been using it more lately all over my lid as a base then usually sweep a small amount of color on the outer corner of my eye. I’m all about simplifying eye makeup now that I’m getting older and this helps. There’s no reason to layer it a ton anymore.
Eye Lux Eyeshadow
I have no idea where I got this from but I really like it. The colors work well for me and it is pigmented enough to stay all day and blends beautifully. I like to just sweep a small amount in the outer corners as opposed to doing a full eye but this also provides enough color to do a full smokey eye if I wanted. I’ll buy this again.
Lash Blowout Volumizing Mascara
I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect mascara and I think I finally found it. I hate large brushes or super small ones and I’m particular about the consistency of the mascara. Thankfully this one has checked all my boxes and works well. Also no fallout and lasts all day.
24/7 Glide-On Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil
I don’t use eyeliner on my upper lids but I still line my waterline. I’ve graduated from black because it’s just a little too harsh now. However, I cannot not line my waterline. I think it looks weird without. This color is perfect and just darkens it just enough to give a little definitely to my eye. It glides on smoothly and lasts pretty much all day.
All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray
This isn’t something that I wear everyday but I definitely wear it when I know it’ll be a long day or I am going to a nice dinner. Though that hasn’t happened in quite some time. I don’t necessarily know if it work or not but I’ll keep using it till it’s gone then maybe try something different? Or just give it up all together and save some money.
Velvet Matte Lipstick Pencil
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect lip color for me and I finally found it. I love that it’s a crayon instead of a lipstick and it doesn’t make my lips dry or sticky. It also provides the perfect amount of color.
There’s my large list of everything that is currently in my makeup bag. I realized that while I was writing this, that I’m sure a few things will change sooner rather than later. I’ll be sure to write another update as soon as that happens. Hopefully one day I won’t keep changing products so frequently. Haha!
