Deliciously sweet protein shake that tastes just like cake batter... have your cake and eat it too! Without all the guilt!
It goes without saying that whenever I make cookies or cake, or any baked good for that matter, there is spoon and bowl licking involved.
Most of the time it is before any of it even makes it out of the bowl onto the cookie sheet or into the cake pan.
Yeah, I have no self control.
But as a fitness coach and in an effort to stay healthy, I’ve decided to make a cake batter protein shake.
So instead of licking the bowl clean of batter, I’ll just whip up one of these babies.
Wait… who am I kidding… there will still be bowl licking involved and I will probably make one of these as well because I will feel guilty that I am eating raw cake batter and how it’s not good for me and yada, yada.
Than I’ll make one of these and drink it down and try and feel better because I am doing something good for my body.
It’s a vicious, never ending cycle.
However, on the days that I am not making cake or cookies or a sweet, baked good and am craving something sweet, this is one of my go-to shakes.
When I have made it in the past, I used actual cake mix to make it taste like cake batter but that negates it being a “healthy” smoothie.
So I have found a way to get that same great cake batter flavor but without the actual cake mix.

That looks amazing! I will have to try. I love butter, just never tried the butter extract.
Thanks, Collin! Let me know how you like it!
Do you think this would taste fine with Advocare’s Chocolate meal replacement shake? Or should I just use my vanilla? I just have a box of opened chocolate is all lol
I have never tried the Advocare Chocolate shake, so I cannot vouch for the flavor profile while being used in this recipe.
I am a serial spoon and bowl licker when I make cakes!! This will help me during those times I need to make a cake just so that I can lick the batter! 😀
Plus those funfetti?? How cool is that??? Thank you so much for sharing this with us at #saucy saturdays!
You had me at cake! This looks awesome! I LOVE smoothies and one that tastes like cake batter definitely has my heart. I also like that it has protein in it. Jennifer
YUM! All I’ve been missing is the butter extract 🙂 I bet this is delicious!!
I love the creative presentation! Is there any substitute for the SF/FF pudding? Fake sugars don’t agree with our household…
You could either omit it altogether or just switch it out with the regular/full fat version. If you omit it then the smoothie won’t be as thick and if you switch it out then, of course, the calorie content and nutrition information would be different. Either way should be just fine and not alter the flavor profile too much.
I have such a hard time with fruit smoothies because of the texture but this looks good!
You know what… I have never drunk a smoothie! However cake batter sounds much better than kale and sea buckthorn and what ever else usually makes its way into one 😉
I agree! I love smoothies but some people put some of the weirdest things in them… I’ll take cake batter anyday!
This smoothie looks SO GOOD! I’m a huge fan of smoothies, but I’ve never really ventured past the fruit and veggie ones. I can’t wait to give this one a try 🙂
So simple and so delicious! I freakin love cake batter flavored anything. Glad this is a healthier option! Will be trying soon!
#noshame in licking the bowl after making a dessert…
I love this idea! It clearly shows that you can have your cake and eat it too.. without feeling guilty 🙂
I will gladly partake in this protein shake.
Same! You cannot keep me away from a bowl of batter, haha! Looks so great, Jennifer.
This recipe is great! I made it a couple times with regular pudding mix and almond milk. Thank you.
