Snacking is a big thing for my family. I remember when I was little, we used to always go to my house for drinks and snacks because my mom always had something for us. Call it a product of growing up like that or whatever, but I feel the same way. With littles running around and their friends coming over all the time, I’ve got to have some snacks on hand at all times.

Unfortunately, most of the snacks for kids (and adults) aren’t really all the healthy and I don’t really like feeding my children tons of junk snacks all the time especially when we eat pretty healthy regular meals.

Luckily, apple chips are a big hit with my daughter. She will eat a whole bag of these babies in one sitting without blinking an eye. To her defense, so will I.

Cinnamon Sugar Baked Apple Chips

I love apple chips. They’re crispy, delicious, and the prefect healthy snack. It’s no wonder I didn’t try and make them at home before instead of spending a fortune on them at the grocery store. They are ridiculously easy to make and you can add just about any “topping” to create your own unique flavors.

So go ahead and give them a try!

Prep: 10 minutes
Cook: 2 hours
Total: 2 hours 10 minutes
Yield: 4 servings

  • 2 apples
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp granulated sugar

  1. Preheat oven to 200° F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper or spray with non-stick cooking spray.

  2. If desired, core apples before slicing. Slice apples 1/8 inch think with mandolin slicer or carefully with a knife. Add apple slices, cinnamon, and sugar to bowl and toss to combine.
  3. Lay apple slices in single layer on prepared baking sheet being careful to not overlap slices.
  4. Bake in 200° F oven for 1 hour. Remove from oven and flip them over. Place back into over for another hour, then turn the oven off and let them cool in the oven - when they cool completely this is when they will crisp up.

  1. These look brilliant and are a wonderfully healthy snack. Could you please confirm whether you use a 200 degree Fahrenheit or Celsius oven?

  2. These were delicious!! I made them all weekend long because everybody kept eating them. I found another recipe that said to bake at 325 for 45 minutes – your recipe was BY FAR the best!!!

  3. I absolutely love this recipe. I followed it to the top. But is there anything else I can do to make them crisper?

    1. I’m glad you loved them, Sharon! Making sure they are completely cool will make them crispy. Or you could always bake them for 10-15 minutes longer but just keep your eye on them so they don’t burn.

  4. Hi there, I’m going to make a batch for my kids lunchboxes. Thanks for the recipe Jennifer!! I do have one question, whereabouts in the oven are the chips best placed? I don’t have a fan bake oven too by the way.
